Tempevale Bonsmaras is the responsible party for personal information collected through tempevalebonsmaras.co.za and through direct enquiries relating to our Bonsmara stud, sales, events and services.
Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect your name, telephone number, email address, organisation or farm details, enquiry or form content, and technical website information such as IP address, browser type, device information, referring page and cookie data.
Please do not submit personal information that is not reasonably needed for your enquiry.
We collect information directly when you submit a form, contact us, register interest, communicate with us, or participate in an event. Limited technical information may also be collected automatically through cookies, security tools, hosting logs and website analytics. We may receive information from authorised service providers or public sources where permitted by law.
We use personal information to respond to enquiries; manage registrations, sales and related communications; provide requested information or services; maintain records; operate, secure and improve the website; comply with legal obligations; prevent fraud or misuse; and send marketing communications where we have consent or another lawful basis.
We process personal information only where it is adequate, relevant and not excessive for a lawful purpose. Depending on the circumstances, processing may be based on consent, performance of an agreement, compliance with law, protection of a legitimate interest, or another basis permitted by POPIA. You may withdraw consent at any time, although this will not affect processing already lawfully completed.
We do not sell personal information. We may share it only when reasonably necessary with authorised employees, professional advisers, website hosting and maintenance providers, email or form services, analytics or security providers, payment or event service providers, regulators, law-enforcement authorities, or other parties where required or permitted by law.
Service providers acting as operators must handle information only for authorised purposes and apply appropriate safeguards.
The website may use essential cookies for functionality and security, plus analytics cookies that help us understand website use. You can restrict or delete cookies through your browser settings, although some features may no longer work correctly. Where legally required, non-essential cookies will be used only after consent.
We use appropriate, reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against loss, unauthorised access, interference, alteration, disclosure or destruction. No internet transmission is completely risk-free. If a security compromise occurs, we will act in accordance with POPIA, including notification to the Information Regulator and affected data subjects where required.
We keep personal information only for as long as necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, to meet contractual or legal requirements, resolve disputes, or protect legitimate interests. When retention is no longer authorised or required, information will be securely deleted, destroyed or de-identified.
Some service providers may store or process information outside South Africa. Where this occurs, we take reasonable steps to ensure the recipient is subject to a law, agreement or binding corporate rules that provide an adequate level of protection, or that another condition under POPIA permits the transfer.
Subject to POPIA and PAIA, you may ask whether we hold your personal information; request access to it; ask us to correct, update, delete or destroy information that is inaccurate, excessive, out of date, incomplete, misleading, unlawfully obtained or no longer authorised for retention; object to certain processing; withdraw consent; and complain about suspected interference with your information.
We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. Legal grounds may sometimes require or permit us to retain information.
Our website is not intended to knowingly collect children’s personal information without the consent of a competent person or another lawful basis under POPIA. If you believe a child’s information was submitted incorrectly, please contact us so it can be reviewed.
For access, correction, deletion, objection or other privacy requests, please contact Tempevale Bonsmaras through the website’s contact channel and mark the message for the attention of the Information Officer.
