Ingemar Heurlin started the Stitchel herd in 1978, on the farm Stitchel in the Queenstown district. The herd prefix was TOR. David Cock’s involvement with Bonsmara started in 1993 when he started working for Dick Isted who owned the Tempevale herd in the Lady Grey district.
On 1 March 2005, David bought the Tempevale herd and the farm Tempe from Dick Isted. David and Ingemar went into partnership, combining the two Bonsmara studs. They decided to use Tempevale as the stud name with Stitchel’s prefix TOR.
Today the cattle run on farms in the Lady Grey, Aliwal North and Queenstown districts. Our animals are well adapted to veld conditions, with exposure to different veld types and tick burdens. In 2006 we held our first auction on Farm Tempe.
